DC Moto TF Day with Ryan Morais

Ryan Morais' goal for a 2010 West Coast Lites Supercross championship came to a screeching halt in just the 3rd round of the series, when another racer landed on the back on his bike, sending both riders crashing to the ground. This unfortunate crash would sideline Ryan for a few rounds, but he would eventually return to racing action in Seattle and finish the season 10th overall points. When the AMA Motocross Nationals came into around, Ryan was ready to get back to racing, but going into the second round he was once again out with an injury. Ryan has been busy the past few months, but is back and ready to set some new goals for the upcoming 2011 series. I spoke with Ryan about what he learned over the past year and his prospects for the new season.

Angela: Well Ryan, here we are just a few short weeks until the first Supercross race of the season; let's talk about sponsors and the bike?

Ryan: Yeah, DC Shoes stepped up recently and is sponsoring the entire Rockstar Energy Suzuki Team, so I am really excited to be a part of it. I have only been with this sponsor for a few days now and they're really taken care of the team. I'm with the same team as last year, Rockstar Energy Suzuki, with the same mechanic (Rene Zapata), and the same team manager, and owner, everything is pretty much the same, but Suzuki really is stepping up this year. Last year we were on a 2009 carburetor bike, so we were kind of behind the ball, but this year we are on the new 2011 fuel injected, the whole new chassis and everything, and Suzuki has really helped us out with factory support. Our bikes are pretty much in house bikes, running Shoei Suspension, so everything is looking great. Everyone has been doing a great job and the people at Yoshimura have been doing a lot of testing and getting our bikes dialed in, so I'm excited for Anaheim 1. Our bike should be one of the best ones out there, making things really competitive, and that is very cool.

2012 Monster Energy Supercross Season Preview to air on CBS Sports television Christmas Day

Feld Motor Sports has announced that CBS Sports TV will showcase the highly anticipated Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, preview show Sunday, December 25 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time USA. The one-hour season preview show will foreshadow what?s to be expected when the gates drop on the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Championship from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California January 7.

The depth of talent in the 2012 field is the deepest the sport has ever seen as it enters its 37th season. Nine different riders - Chad Reed, Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Trey Canard, Kevin Windham, Josh Hill, Josh Grant and Davi Millsaps have earned Supercross Class wins during their careers. Among them, Stewart, Reed, Dungey and Villopoto have captured the coveted Supercross Class championship.

CBS Sports will give an insider?s perspective on the multi-faceted season that lies ahead and provide an update on the developments of Stewart and Dungey?s camps as the season draws near. Once the season gets underway, CBS Sports TV will provide a Monster Energy Supercross special on February 26, 2012, at Noon Eastern Time and a Monster Energy Supercross Season Recap show on May 6, 2012 at Noon Eastern Time.

Says Charlie Mancuso, President of Feld Motor Sports: ?Network coverage on CBS Sports is the perfect platform to showcase the highly anticipated 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship."

Beyond the competition, 2012 is being tabbed as a significant season of change for many of the sport?s biggest names. Most notably are the respective moves of both Stewart and Dungey. After three years with San Manuel Yamaha, Stewart made a high-profile move to Joe Gibbs Racing and the Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX stable, while Dungey will compete professionally on a machine other than Suzuki for the first time in his career, rejoining mentor and team manager Roger De Coster at Red Bull KTM.

RJ Says: 1985 LA Coliseum Supercross video - part 1

Where supercross started - the fabled Los Angeles Coliseum in 1972. This video is from 1985 at the L. A. Coliseum Supercross.

This video is part 1 of 2. I wanted to get it up for you as quickly as possible. In this video, for better or worse, you'll see a lot of me (I'm number 5 on a Yamaha). But in the second video that's coming, you'll see a lot more of my friends in the race like David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Jeff Ward, Goat Breker, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara, and others.

I think in 1985, we ran two 'main events' at each supercross. Part of what you see here (if my memory is correct) is me winning the first 'main event'.

And stay tuned for the second video! Both videos have the fabled Peristyle uphill / downhill. And especially in the second video coming late next week, with guys like Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara and myself - you'll see riders with about 33 AMA Supercross and Motocross titles combined!

Hope you enjoy the videos ...
